"Music-valley"
is the High valley of the river Allier, from the district of Brioude to
the district of
Langeac, in the department of Haute Loire, Auvergne, southern
France.
The music season
in the valley is a relaxed affair; the venues are mostly small, the
performers good - often top quality, but the prices reasonable - some
"give what you want", many less than 10 Euros, some a bit more. Only
the full concerts in the basilica at Brioude are a bit higher (28 Euros
in 2011). This is a fringe without a festival, a summer of music for
pleasure, organised by musicians and cultural associations.

Except for concerts in Brioude and Lavaudieu (see "Concert organisers"
below) , tickets - when required - are not usually
sold in
advance, but are available at the door. Many of the concerts
are
free. Donations welcome.
